Central Teacher Eligibility Test is a national eligibility exam for the appointment of teachers in classes I- VIII. The responsibility for conducting CTET is entrusted with Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi. 

  • The exam consists of two papers, Paper -I and Paper-II.
  • Each paper takes 2 ½ hours.
  • The application for CTET can submit online.
  • Questions are multiple-choice questions.

Eligibility of Central Teacher Eligibility Test

 Eligibility for becoming teachers of class I- V.

  • Candidates should qualify the 10+2 examination with an aggregate mark of 50% or appearing final year of 2-year diploma in elementary education.
  • Applicants should qualify 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks or passed or appearing in the final year of the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education.
  • Applicants who are passed or appearing 2-year Diploma in special education can also apply CTET.

Eligibility for teachers of class VI-VII.

  • Candidates should qualify the teacher training programs/teacher education course.
  • Candidates should have passed Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years ) or must be appearing for the final year exam.
  • B.Ed Final year students or graduates who are passed with at least 50% marks or with an aggregate mark of 45% in 1 year B. Ed under NCTE can also apply for the exam.
  • Aspirants who were passed 10+2 examination and were passed or appearing at least 50% mark in 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education/ 4 years B.A./B.Sc./B.A. B.Ed/B.Sc. B. Ed or 1-year B.Ed. can apply for CTET.

Exam Pattern of Central Teacher Eligibility Test

  • There are two papers for CTET. Both are offline exams.
  • Duration of both exams is 2 ½ hours.
  • All questions are multiple-choice questions.
  • There is no negative mark for examination.
  • The language of examination can be Hindi or English

How to apply for CTET?

  • Candidates can submit the online application for CTET by visiting http://www.nata.in
  • Click on ‘Apply online’.
  • At first, the candidates have to enter the name, date of birth, gender, state and identification for registration purpose.
  • After that, they have to fill the application by giving the basic details, academic detail and Communication details.
  • Candidates will receive the application number and password.
  • Applicants have to upload the scanned image of passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed format mentioned in the information bulletin.
  • The application fees can be paid through either online by using Debit/Credit card/ Net Banking or through E-challan with Syndicate or Canara Bank. 
  • Candidates can take a print out of the confirmation page after submitting the application form.
