National Aptitude Test in Architecture is a national level entrance examination, conducted by the Council of Architecture. NATA stands as eligibility criteria for the admissions to the undergraduate programs in Architecture. 

  • National Aptitude Test in Architecture will evaluate the candidate’s skills in the specific field of study that is, Architecture.
  • The purpose of the NATA is to conduct a single aptitude test for selecting promised students to architecture programs by avoiding multiple aptitude tests.
  • NATA will be carried twice in a year.
  • The examination includes two parts Part A and Part B

Eligibility of National Aptitude Test in Architecture

  • The candidates should pass 10+2 examination with an aggregate mark of 50%mark in science subjects or at least 50 %marks in 10+2 examination from any approved institutions.
  • Students who qualify diploma examination (10+3) with Mathematics as a compulsory subject having at least 50% marks can also apply for NATA.
  • There is no age limit to apply for the exam.

Exam Pattern of National Aptitude Test in Architecture

  • NATA exam is conducted in 3 sections, they are engineering mathematics, drawing, general aptitude.
  • The total mark of NATA is 200.
  • In drawing section candidates can attempt 3 questions and carries 125 marks.
  • For scientific and general aptitude section there will be 50 questions and the correct answer will carry 1.5 marks.
  • There will be no negative marks for wrong answers.

Syllabus of National Aptitude Test in Architecture

Syllabus of NATA comprises of Drawing test, scientific ability and General Aptitude.

Drawing testUnderstanding of scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, colour texture,Drawing of patterns – both geometrical and abstractForm transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes.Conceptualization and Visualization through structuring objects in memoryCreating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and formsCommon day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.
CHEMISTRYBasic Concepts of Chemistry, Chemical Bonding and Molecular, Chemical Thermodynamics, Organic Chemistry,
MATHEMATICSAlgebra, Logarithms, Coordinate geometry, Theory of Calculus, Permutation and combination,  Matrices, Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Trigonometry, Application of Calculus, Statistics and Probability.
PHYSICSElectrostatics, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating currents, Atoms and Nuclei, Current Electricity, Optics, Electronic devices and Dual nature of radiation and Matter

How to apply for NATA?

  • Candidates have to read the instructions and guidelines mentioned in the brochure of NATA by visiting https://www.nata.in/
  • The application for NATA can be submitted online. At first, the applicants have to register the NATA by entering the name, gender, email id and mobile number.
  • Next, the application number and the password will be received to the registered email id.
  • After that, the candidates can log in the website for filling the application form by entering the name, parent’s name, date of birth, nationality, education qualification, communication address.
  • Applicants have to select the examination centres as per their preferences. They have to make three choices for the examination centres.
  • Candidates have to upload the scanned image of passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed format mentioned in the brochure.
  • Fees are applicable for NATA, can be paid online by using Debit/Credit card/ Net Banking.
  • NATA will be carried for two times in a year and candidates can either attend the first session or both.
  • Those who wish to appear for both the first and second test have to pay an amount of Rs. 3800 and the fees for the single attempt are Rs.2000.
