Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test is a national level entrance test conducted by IITs and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on a rotational basis. IIT JAM laid the qualification for the admission to postgraduate science programs, PhD dual programs and other post-graduate programs.

  • Till 2019, IIT JAM was conducted in 7 subjects, but in 2020 it will be conducted in 6 subjects.
  • The whole exam is divided into 3 sessions.
  • The IIT JAM scores have accepted by National Institute of Technology and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes.

Eligibility of Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test

  • There are no age restrictions for applying IIT JAM.
  • The Indian and Foreign citizens can apply the examination.
  • Candidates should qualify the undergraduate in Science subjects with an aggregate mark of 55% from any recognised colleges or institutions.

Exam Pattern of Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test 

  • IIT JAM is a computer-based online test.
  • The exam is conducted in 3 Sections like section A, section B and Section C
  • The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
  • All questions are mixed up with multiple select questions, Numerical answer type and multiple-choice questions, where 1 mark carries for each correct answer and 2 marks for every two right marked answers.
  • The questions will be in the English language.

How to apply the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test?

Before applying for IIT JAM candidates are advised to read the all instruction and guidelines of the exam and its application process.

  • At first, the applicants have to visit the official website of IIT JAM of the respective period.
  • There the candidates have to register by entering their name, email id, mobile number, and password for login purpose.
  • Thereafter, candidates can fill the online application form by entering the details like gender, date of birth, religion, communication details, and education qualification.
  • Applicants can choose the campus from where they want to attend the test.
  • In addition to that, the candidates have to upload the scanned image of passport size photograph, signature and scanned certificate that stands as an evidence of their reservation in the prescribed format mentioned in the official website.
  • Candidates have to pay the required application fees based on the categories and gender.
