  Common-Law Admission Test is a national level entrance exam for the admission of undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. The exam is conducted by the Consortium Law Universities headed by NLSIU.

  • CLAT scores will be considered by the 22 Nation Law universities, private universities.
  • CLAT is an offline examination conducted for 2 hours with 150MCQs.
  • Common Law Admission Test is conducted for admission to B.A. LLB, B.Com.LLB, B.Sc. LLB, BBA LLB, LLM programs.

Eligibility for Applying Common Law Admission Test

  • Candidates who have qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised institution can apply for the examination.
  • Minimum marks required for applying CLAT is 45% for General/OBC/Specially abled person and 40% of marks for SC/ST.
  • Applicants who are appearing for the 12th examination at the time of application have to submit their qualified certificate of the 12th class at the time of admission.
  • There is no upper age limit for applying CLAT

Exam Pattern of CLAT

Examination pattern of CLAT is as follows

  • CLAT is conducted in offline mode
  • Total exam duration will be 2 hours.
  • The questions for Undergraduate program will be 150 Multiple Choice Questions
  • The questions for Postgraduate exam will be 100 questions.
  • Here each question carries 1 mark
  • Negative marks (0.25) will be deducted for wrong answers.

 Common-Law Admission Test includes five subjects. They are:

·         Quantitative Aptitude
·         General Knowledge
·         Verbal Ability
·         Legal Aptitude
·         Logical reasoning

Instruction for Applying CLAT Examination

  • Applicants can apply the CLAT by visiting consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  • Candidates have to register their mobile number and email id.
  • Fill the application form by entering the name, date of birth, gender, identity proof, education qualification.
  • They can enter the examination centre through an online application.
  • By submitting the online application the candidates are required to upload the following documents. The documents should be in pdf format.
  • Passport size photograph
  • Signature of the candidate

(The photograph and signature should be self-attested.)

  • Category certificate for SC/ST/OBC
  • Relevant documents from respective authorities if the applicant is   PW.D. or BPL category.
  • Fees are applicable and can be paid through online mode.
  • Application fees for General/OBC/ NRI/PWD/OCI/PIO are Rs.4000/-
  • Application fees for SC/ST/BPL category are 3500

The applicants are advised to visit the official website after applying CLAT for receiving regular updates. The online application for CLAT 2020 has been opened from 1st January 2020 to 1st July 2020.
