Pharm. D is a professional Pharmacy Doctoral Programme. Pharm D. means ‘Doctor of Pharmacy’, is an art and science of preparing and dispensing drugs and medicines. Pharm D. is a registered qualification under the Pharmacy Act. The dealing body of Pharm D. is Pharmacy Council of India. It introduced the 6 years Pharm D. course in India from 2008. This course enables to practice the profession of a Pharmacist. This program is focused on classroom theory, penetrative labs. Experiments and motivated research projects. Colleges which are approved by PCI can only offer Pharm D. course. This course opens several career opportunities for aspirants. This course aims to prepare students in the management of patient medication therapy and improving patient outcomes.
Pharm D. course if of 6 years duration which is divided into two phases. Phase I consists of First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth academic year. Phase II consists of internship or residency of one year. It includes placement in specialty units.
