           Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test is a national level entrance examination for the admissions to Chartered Accountancy courses. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is entrusted for conducting CA CPT.

Eligibility of Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test

  • Students should qualify 10+2 examination from any recognised institutions.
  • The candidates who are registered for the CPT course with the Board of studies of the institutes.
  • Candidates who passed the graduation or post-graduation course in commerce with an aggregate mark of 55% are exempted from the examination.

Exam Pattern of Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test

  • CA CPT is an offline examination with objective type questions.
  • The exam is conducted in 2 sections.
  • Each section carries total marks of 100
  • The duration of each section is 2 hours.
  • The CA CPT includes multiple-choice questions where 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

How to apply for Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test?

  • Candidates have to visit the official website https://icaiexam.icai.org/ for applying CA CPT.
  • Select the Login/ Register option.
  • At first, the applicants have to register for CA CPT before filling the application form.
  • For registration, the candidates have to enter the email id, mobile number and date of birth.
  • After that, the login Id and password will be generated for login purpose.
  • Candidates can log in for filling the application by entering the name, gender, father’s name, communication address and education address
  • Applicants have to select the examination centre, declaration certificate and language of the question booklet.
  • Next, the aspirants have to upload the scanned image of passport size photograph, signature in the prescribed format mentioned in the instructions laid by ICAI.
  • After verifying the whole details, candidates can pay the application fees by online using Debit/Credit card/ Net Banking.
  • After submitting the application form, the candidates have to take the print out of the filled application form and send to the appropriate office of ICAI for verification purpose.
  • While submitting the application form at the office of ICAI, applications have to enclose the following documents.
  1. Attested copy of date of birth and SSLC certificate
  2. Attested copy of special category certificate.
  3. Proof of Nationality, if the candidate is a foreigner
  4. DD towards the registration fees and other fees
